The organization of this reading list matches
the order items appear in the class introductions for each week.
In general, students should read each of the required readings and at
least two additional items for each week. The purpose of these readings
is to provide information and informed perspectives on the topics
presented in class and discussed online in our discussion group.
Discussion comments that reference the readings specifically and
critically demonstrate effective reading.
Many items in this Online Reader Require a Username and Password.
All members of the class should have the Username and Password for this semester
delivered via email. If you need them, please email
lombardi@lsu.edu.
All items are available online except for the movies cited in the
section on Sports and Society. These exist in most rental stores,
Internet streaming sources, and many often appear and reappear on
or regular television channels.
